The Step Up Douglas Community Committee Promotes active living, community engagement, and increased access to healthier foods, focusing efforts on transportation, walking paths, and promoting fresh produce at low cost for the Douglas community. Their efforts are to get at the heart of the population health, by to addressing community issues where they can help to build a more solid foundation as a sustainable Healthy Community Committee and increase capacity for residents. In the past six months, they have been seeking connections with other organizations in Douglas to improve local social determinants of health that will extend to the wider community. Its Mission is to advocate for the community as a positive presence promoting the overall health of Douglas. Promotes active living, community engagement, and increased access to healthier foods, focusing efforts on transportation, walking paths, and Borderlands Food Bank’s Produce on Wheels Without Waste program (POWWOW).

Established a summer night light schedule in Airport Park in Douglas to encourage the community to utilize the park during the evening.

With the help of Copper Queen Clinic promoted Produce on Wheels with out Waist. Looking to start again. Recruiting volunteers to help in this project.
